My Mind, Body, and Soul were just raped and left for dead. Second’s please!
Upon leaving an early screening of this… this thing. I could only think of two things.
1. I had fun.
2. What the fuck just happened?
This is, without a doubt, one of my top movies of all time.
Yes, ALL TIME. And that’s quite a list for me. Not in a while has a movie been so action packed while remaining extremely intelligent, so funny, and so goddamn random. There’s never a dull moment in Scott Pilgrim.
And did I mention the SOUNDTRACK… oh my dear golly gosh. I’m actually rocking out to it while writing the review, and to continue making this spoiler free. The battle of the bands scene is easily one of my favorites.
Bad ass music. Bad ass cast. Bad ass story and bad ass nerd references all over the place… if you’ve played a video game EVER or been on the internet EVER, you will be laughing your ass off the whole hour and a half you’re have your soul twisted.
I dare anyone who thinks differently to have a logical debate with me about this movie… who’s actually seen it. Because if you have not, there’s really nothing to discuss and your argument is invalid.
Will still see this, just hate Michael Cera and Jesse Eisenberg with a fierce passion.
What I’d really like to see is a movie that relates to me and does not assume i am a privileged, nerdy, wimpy, overly-whiny white kid. There’s not one identifyably black or latin main character and usually one is simply added (insultingly) as an ancillary character. For those it’s like a formula: 1 “ethnic” to 3 normal/American/Caucasian characters.
I’m the last person who will play the race card, but I am tired of these movies (and video games) about well-off, whiny white people. I include many Japanese characters in games as well because I feel japan has an identity crisis, hence why most amine characters have features of Caucasian people.
Trust me on this. This movie will relate to you. A lot. And everyone is far from well off.
You’ll walk out with a smile on your face.
