Pierce Brosnan Should Remain Emotionless

The Greatest is a movie that slipped under a lot of people’s noses. Mine included. The flick stars Pierce Brosnan, Susan Sarandon, Carey Mulligan, and Michael Shannon (Young Neil from Scott Pilgrim).’

It’s really just your standard grief movie. Son dies and no one can really cope with it. Mom wigs out, Dad ignores it and suffers… and brother goes on drugs.

But it gets more complicated when the son’s girlfriend comes to the house and tells them she’s pregnant. What insues from there is everyone being a jackass because they can’t handle the passing of their loved one. It’s all BRILIENTLY acted. If you want to learn how dramatic acting is done, this movie is a perfect example…

I don’t say this often, but it’s a pretty perfect grief movie. If that actually exists. Today, we’re going to pretend that it does. Story is shallow, but like I just said, acting is top notch… except for one moment.

Pierce Brosnen is a great actor. But sometimes he just goes to place he dosen’t know, and forgets to bring his GPS with him. Towards the end of the movie, he breaks down crying. And just like in Mamma Mia… he’s just awful. I could barely watch.

C'Mon Son...

I just can’t get out of my head how bad that scene was.  Sarandontried to save it. But it was too late. They should have done more takes… that was just bad.

An above par cast and a surprise proformance from “Young Neil”. Make this one certainly one to seek out of you want a few tears. Many of the situations presented are mirrored from my own life so I could easily step right into this one. I don’t know about everyone else though. But man… Pierce sound really stop crying and singing… forever.
