The Future

Today was a landmark day. Shooting schedule  locked up. The new start day is the 16th. Until then, I’ll be working on 5 new projects. Yes 5. I want to get some stuff out there.

Let’s break them down kung-fu style. We’re expanding to all mediums and I think it’ll be a fun ride.

1. The Creative Process

This has been off and on for a couple of years now. But I finally have what it is I want to do. It will be a multi part online series focusing on the creation of a movie from some very inept filmmakers.

2. My Only Sunshine

I’ve wanted to experiment with swords and gunplay. This is the perfect time to do so. Modern day low budget assassin short? Yes please. Might become a feature if I like what I see.

3. Chronicles of Failure

Spoke of this the other day. If you don’t know about Chronicles yet, educate yourself.

4. Blú

Pet project if mine. Psychics and oppressive US Government ftw.

5. Combat Chefs: Boiling Point

This is most likely what I’ll be tackling first. 2 rival Chefs, fallen from grace, must team up when what they love is taken from them. One a girlfriend, the other, flour tortillas. The road to culinary redemption isn’t an easy one, to prove you’re the best, you need to beat the best in one on one culinary combat. Winner take all. Enter the world of Combat Chefs… if you can’t take the heat, you shouldn’t have blown up their kitchen.

Also along with these will be mine and Kenny Riot’s podcast. That should be a lot of fun as well. We’re branching out people, stay tuned.

Philosophy: Is Losing Friends Worth the Price of Success?

Teh Truf

As a writer, or even just as a human being… there are times when my friends or even my family have questioned my logic. This is all fine and dandy. That is, if there’s some sort of logical rhyme and reason for it all. Just doubting people just for the fuck of it really dosen’t help anyone.

But that’s not what I’m getting at. I just want to talk about dealing with haters like that.

No matter who it is, friends or family. You have to remember. This is your craft and your passion. It needs to be done and done well at any cost.

I personally have dealt with problems such as these since I was ten years old at the least. My rich parents were grooming me to be something like an Architect or a Doctor or (God forbid) a lawyer. But I really wanted to write. I could never get them to read the things I wrote, for years. Sabotaging my contest entries as I grew up.

My parents are no longer in my life for that and many other reasons. But long story short, I dumped them. Sometimes you just need to do that. It hurts, it still does. But the benefit of knowing you did what was best for YOURSELF is what matters.

Had problems with my movie as well, I had a certain male. He was question my judgement. I was rocking the boat. He said I was stupid and a whole bunch of other pretty rude things. We were never really friends anyway so no big loss there. Then there were others, laughing behind my back at this crazy thing I was doing.  Some of which I included on said film from the start. Just totally not taking it seriously, lacking faith.

All just baggage. If someone is doubting what you’re doing and can’t give you any sort of logical reason why, they’re just like my parents… caring for you only when it’s totally convenient for them. Your real friends will shine even in your darkest hour… and when you’re writing those hours seem to come in rapid order.

So, if you’re hell bent on accomplishing something positive… do it at all costs. Even if it means kicking people to curb. You need to tell yourself it’s not personal, it’s business… but in my case, my business is quite personal.

Just thought this had to be said. Back to work now. We’re filming.

Distribution Plans

Haven’t talked much about distribution yet have I? Well I think with filming starting this weekend I should most likely be doing that now.

The film has a projected release date of May 14th. That day, I’ll upload a torrent to Pirate Bay. We’ll also begin to take orders on DVD’s.

Those of you who donated to the cause will also be getting a free copy (aren’t you guys special?)

Far as festivals go, we will definitely see. I don’t know what type of movie we’ll have, but we’ll have the best one we can possibly make.

C2E2 Interview: Phil Hester

I had a chance to sit down with Phil Hester, creator of the long running comic and recent Cartoon Network movie “Firebreather”.

Wish it came out better… but this is all trial and error in this business right?

*crickets*

I’m basically dead after the convention, so I’ll get a transcript up here too if you all like… but for now I’m gonna sleep, I’m tired.

zzzzzzz…

C2E2: Boy Wonder

Batman’s a pretty cool motherfucker isn’t he? But what if Batman weren’t so rich… and was a little more… well, real.

You would think that would equal a very boring narrative. Boy Wonder will change your frame of mind.

Set in New York, we follow the development of Sean Donovan, a quiet but smart kid. You know the drill. Apparently, in his spare time he like to go around and fight a certain type of criminal… all in a quest to find the murderer of his mother. This leads him to question his own morals… and his family for that matter.

The movie, I must admit… starts at a snail’s pace. But once it finds it’s flow at about the fifteen minute mark, you’ll be on the edge of your seat. I know I was.

I dunno how wide a theatrical release (if any) it’ll have, but if you get a chance to see it… whether it be at a festival or con, do so or I’ll put some black goop on my face for no apparent reason and kick your ass on a subway.

There’s another screening at C2E2 on Sunday afternoon. Check it out.

TL;DR… See this now please. Unless you’re a dumbass who doesn’t like well developed characters and twisty storylines.

A+

Changes and Shakeups. Good Ones.

After a few cast drop outs and some other things far beyond my control, the last few days has been quite chaotic. I apologize for not getting back to a lot of you guys, I’ll do that today.

We’ll have a new donation system. I’m not too much of a fan of Indiegogo taking their Hulk sized cut out of everything, and just making a confusing system for people to use. So I’m cutting out the middle man and just making some nice donation buttons for the official website. But I need to get in contact with my buddy John who’s the admin for that site to get things fixed… so if you’re really itching to make a donation right now (as you should) You can at the temporary donation site.

But for the most part it looks like fundraising is over and we’ll have to work with what we got. This isn’t a bad thing.

We film in 2 weeks. Get hype.

Looking for a few good (wo)men

Fund raising is done (preliminary anyway…) and in three weeks cameras will roll. So exciting. But we’re still in need of a few things to make it perfect.

Manpower.

When making a movie on such a low budget as this, you need to call in a few favors from your friends and family who believe in you (those of you who are helping me out, you’re amazing and I love you all.)

Anyway, there have been many people around Chicagoland who are wondering how they can help out. Most of whom came to love the script after they read it.

Here’s what I need.

Actors:

Male, female… I really don’t care at this point. I just have to fill up a few spots. I’ll plan accordingly.

Editors:

I need some people more efficient in Adobe Aftereffects and the like than I… which isn’t too hard too hard to do.

Cameramen:

Me and Josh Carlascio have a few cameras between us. However, for the shots we want to have… we need as many cameras as possible to get the shots we want. If you have a camera, tripod, anything. We really could use you.

Craft Services:

We like noms, and some people who shall remain nameless get really angry when they don’t eat. You know who you are. I’ll most likely handle this nonsense myself. But if anyone wants to jump in and not give us food poisoning, then go right ahead.

Artists

Let’s face it. For the official website (still under construction, but it’s there) as well as any posters I have to make at a later date, we’re gonna need some new artwork. I’m artistically retarded like that so it would be beyond awesome to find someone who does.

Like I’ve said in the past, we can get by on what we have. However, we could make things much better.

I can’t pay anyone of course, if I could I wouldn’t exactly be begging over facebook, twitter, and craigslist now would I? But you do get to spend a few days with some really great people and add a great film to your resume.

If you’re already saying “fuck that”. That’s fine. Some words of encouragement would be pretty cool as well.

If anyone has any comments or questions… use the comment thingy below. You can also find my contact information on the site. Ask away, I can’t read minds.

Tootles.
