No one reads my stuff anyway. So I want to try and talk myself through the opening cinematic and everything I want to do in the future. I made a video where I touched on some of those things, but I really don’t like making videos but the algorithms say I have to. So that’s there anyway.
I mentioned the series itself being a mixture of 70’s Grindhouse with that pretty, new coat of paint. A lot of what made them so good were just the way they started. You pretty much knew what you were getting into right at the start and you could get your mind ready as such.
It’s not the 70’s but I’ll give you Death Proof. You can see Tarantino’s foot fetish in full display. But if you watch below, you see it slowly puts you in the mood to be introduced to the first set of women.
Another example is A Scanner Darkly. You’ll be put right into the mindset about 10 seconds in. You’ll see what I mean. Prepare to itch.
I need to establish the tone right off the bat or else everything will just fall flat from there. That’s really what I’m concerned about.
As I’ve been writing I’ve been pulling out a lot of movies for some inspiration as I go along.
Such as Switchblade Sisters, which has a particular scene at a roller rink actually.
Then there’s this movie. There’s an intensity in this movie that I’ve just always loved. It’s one I don’t always see. You can really see the similar tone to what I’ve written.
Then there’s this one that I didn’t see until really recently. Don’t know how I missed it for so long considering the great fight scenes it has. Some of the best I’ve ever seen actually.
You’ve read and you can draw a lot of parallels with what I’m trying to accomplish. Just trying to do it in my own way. Cinema-Wise that is.
But of course, my second love is video games. And sometimes I’m able to actually squeeze in some time with my fighters… and Smash Bros which isn’t a fighting game. Sorry, it’s not.
For obvious reasons, this. You’ll see a ton of references of Jet Set Radio when you see the finished product.
Then of course, Madworld. Because it’s violent as hell. We’re over the top and only using practical effects, so why not go big or go home. We won’t be impaling anyone with a stop sign, but I think we’re figure out some fun stuff to do. If anyone asks me how I thought of such violent stuff. I’m not just thinking about Smash TV. Of course we’re not so violent yet. The situation isn’t really there for me to do some of the cool stuff I wanna do yet.
Okay, enough of that.
Now, the format, Instead of the fewer, longer episodes… I opted to go for more, shorter episodes. Each one will be less than 15 minutes, there will be 10 of them. And when all is said and done, it’ll basically be a long movie if you just want to sit and watch it all the way through. This is what all the Netflix has trained you for anyway.
So yeah, I had to throw all this stuff down real quick. At least talk about some stuff. Lemme know how you feel.
